Where pictures are worth more than a 1000 words

Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) helps nonverbal autistic children communicate by using pictures as visual aids. The PECS system (visual support) is one of the most commonly used augmentative communication systems for children with autism. Since autistic children often have strong visual skills, visual supports help them interact with others, express their feelings and understand their daily schedule. If you are the parent of an autistic child, you can learn to use visual steps to improve communication with your child.
